Golf Services Management (GSM) has successfully acquired Hepburn Springs Golf Club – A stunning 18 hole golf course nestled in the picturesque Daylesford Region in Central Victoria.
Following recent approval from the club members, GSM is poised to revitalise this historic country golf course after committing to clearing all of the outgoing Club’s existing liabilities, offering discounted fees to current members for a minimum of 5 years and injecting substantial capital into upgrading both the golf course and associated facilities.
Commenting on the acquisition, GSM Director Ian Denny expressed his commitment to maintaining the club’s legacy, stating, “We certainly never expected to be in this position and are saddened by the Club having to wind up after 98 years. GSM is committed to keeping the doors open for existing members and to driving new visitation by tapping into the thriving tourism market in the area with a new ‘open to all’ policy.”
Hepburn Springs Golf Club President, Vic Delosa, echoed this sentiment, acknowledging the club’s reliance on dedicated volunteers and the challenging financial circumstances it faced. Delosa affirmed, “After exhausting all avenues to retain control of the Club, the Committee proposed to pass ownership to GSM contingent on undertakings to preserve the operation of the course for the benefit of existing members for a minimum of 5 years.”
The course, known for its scenic layout, will undergo exciting changes under GSM’s stewardship. Innovative shorter versions of the game will be introduced this Spring, complementing traditional play and attracting a broader demographic to the venue.
With a track record of successfully revitalising struggling golf clubs including St Andrews Beach and Peregian Springs, GSM is poised to usher in a new era for Hepburn Golf which will join the 5 other Victorian courses in the golf management group’s portfolio. Operations under GSM will commence from April 24, accompanied by a refreshed website and updated trading information due to be launched later in April.
