Thanks for playing! The first series of ‘Hepburn Classic’ events has now conclude, check out all of the highlights and results below. During the quiter months of May – September there will be an amended GSM Open Event on the second Saturday of each month.

GSM Golf’s ‘Hepburn Classic’ event series— designed to welcome both our valued members and new faces to the Hepburn Golf!
Whether you’re already part of our community or looking for the perfect opportunity to experience our course for the first time, these events offer a fantastic day of golf, competition, and camaraderie.
Each event is open to members and visitors and is named after a noteable life member of our beautiful golf club!

The 6th and final GSM Hepburn Classic, held on Friday 12th April, with 32 players, including 9 welcome visitors – enjoying the friendly yet competitive atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the series.
The final event was in recognition to Len Barlow for his invaluable contribution to the club over many years.
Congratulations to our prize winners:
- 1st Place – Rikki Cox with a brilliant 43 points! Rikki takes home a $100 voucher, a Hepburn GC shirt by FootJoy, and a voucher for 4 players at either Growling Frog, Bay Views, or Hepburn Golf Course.
- 2nd Place – Kane Trimble with a strong 40 points.
- 3rd Place – John Fergusson, who edged out visitor Simon Looi on countback with 36 points.
Nearest the Pin Winners:
Graeme Lucas on the 8th hole, visitor Murray Fraser on the 13th hole.
The Overall GSM Hepburn Classic Winner – taking home the Titleist StaDry Golf Bag – goes to Rikki Cox, with the best 3 aggregate scores over the 6-month series, totaling an impressive 121 points. This prize honours the legacy of life member Ian Rodgers. Thank you again to everyone who participated and supported the series.
5th GSM Hepburn Classic – March 16, 2025
The 5th GSM Hepburn Classic was a fantastic day, with 30 players— including six welcome visitors—enjoying a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
A special mention goes to JCM Harper for his invaluable contribution to the club over the years.
Winner – Tim Murphy (42 points)
Tim takes home a $100 voucher, a Hepburn GC shirt by FootJoy, and a voucher for four players at either Growling Frog, Bay Views or Hepburn Golf Course.
Runner-up – Rikki Cox (41 points on countback)
3rd Place – Jan Smith (41 points)

Looking Ahead – 6th and Final GSM Hepburn Classic
Mark your calendars for Saturday 12th April 2025, where we’ll also be recognising Len Barlow for his outstanding contribution to the club.
The leaderboard is heating up, with Jan Smith leading on 112 points, closely followed by Rose Mobbs, Simon Bevanda and Tim Murphy on 109 points. It’s all to play for in the final showdown – we look forward to seeing you there!
The 4th GSM Hepburn Classic was a fantastic day with 30 players, including 10 welcome visitors, joining in the friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
A special mention to Jack Dixon for his invaluable contribution to the club over the years.
The competition was closely contested, with visitor from Midlands, Shawn Slater taking home 1st prize on 38 points who receives the $100 voucher, Hepburn GC shirt by FootJoy and a voucher for 4 players at either Growling Frog, Bay Views or Hepburn Golf Course. Hot on his heels was
Jenny Cronin with 37 points, narrowly edging out Jan Smith and Rose Mobbs on a countback. After another countback, Jan Smith secured 3rd place, leaving Rose just behind in a very close finish.

Event Results (January 11)
The 3rd GSM Hepburn Classic brought together 32 players, including three welcome visitors, for a fantastic day of golf on Saturday, 11th January. This event was also an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions of club member Leon Hedwards, making the day even more special.
A huge congratulations to Wayne Bull, who secured victory with an impressive 37 points — a remarkable win, especially as it was Wayne’s first game in several weeks.
Following closely behind, Gary Bryant-Smith claimed 2nd place with 36 points, narrowly edging out visitor John Brugman on a countback. John’s strong performance earned him a well-deserved 3rd place finish.
The Nearest to the Pin contests added extra excitement, with Wayne Bull taking the honours on the 8th hole and Rikki Cox on the 11th.
Event Results (December 14)
The second ‘GSM Hepburn Classic’ event in honour of our life member, Sam Bennett, turned out to be an exciting competition with a field of 33 players and welcoming 14 visitors to our Hepburn Golf Course. A huge congratulations to Pat Baird who emerged victorious with a very impressive 44 points, taking the top spot.
- James Carroll secured 2nd place with 39 points.
- Graeme Lucas claimed 3rd place on 38 points, winning on a count back against Michael Sitton
- Bernie Frith taking Nearest to the Pin on the 2nd hole and Daniel Fury a visitor on the 9th hole
Congratulations to all participants and winners for their outstanding efforts! The next GSM Classic Event will be on Saturday January 11.
Event Results (November 9)
The GSM Hepburn Classic 1st event in honour of our life member, Graeme Lucas, and it turned out to be an exciting competition. A huge congratulations to Simon Bevanda, who emerged victorious with an impressive 41 points, taking the top spot.
Right on Simon’s heels, Graeme Lucas himself secured 2nd place with 40 points, which made this event extra special as the day was dedicated to recognising his invaluable contributions to the club.
Kane Trimble claimed 3rd place on 39 points, winning on a count back against Murray Fraser, a visiting competitor from Woodend Golf Club. Murray, however, did not go home empty-handed, as he won Nearest to the Pin on the 8th hole.
Sean Ludeke also excelled, taking Nearest to the Pin on the 17th hole.
Thank you to all players for making this day a memorable one, especially in recognition of Graeme’s ongoing legacy.

Overall Series Prize

The series prize will be awarded to the golfer who achieves the best overall performance across the GSM Golf Hepburn Classic series. To win, participants must play their best throughout the series, as the trophy is determined by the best aggregate Stableford score from three rounds over the six-month period. This means that your top three performances will count towards your final score, giving every golfer a fair shot at claiming the prize.
The series winner will also receive a Titleist StaDry Golf Bag—a premium prize that’s as practical as it is stylish, perfect for taking your game to the next level.
